Don’t throw your old plant material as it could be transformed into compost or worm casting to apply in your garden. I chop the plant so more parts are exposed to microorganisms, speeding up the decomposition. Plant alliums twice their size in dept and use cover crops like alfa alfa, mustard, etc at high density.
