Tom VonIns is sharing his garden with us today. Tom and his wife started working on making a garden here in 1985. When they started it was mostly dirt with no landscaping whatsoever. As you’ll see, they’ve made a pretty amazing transformation!
This pond is really beautiful. The little waterfall adds movement and the sounds of running water. Low-growing perennials line the edge, hiding the line of the pond liner, but they are low enough to not obscure the view of the water.
This is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the garden. The sail provides shade in hot weather, and the firepit can provide warmth in the cold.
Perennials and shrubs edge the lawn, softening the transition to the privacy fence.
You can see that this is an urban garden, but there is a lot of privacy, thanks to the fence and the well-placed trees and shrubs.
This look at the whole garden includes a view of something familiar to all gardeners—a shelf full of potted plants waiting to get planted.
