My name is Allison and I am from the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in Bellingham, Washington. I have been working on my garden for about three years now, and I’d love to share some photos with you! I have an eclectic garden, full of pollinator perennials, as well as a small vegetable garden. I enjoy breaking up my garden space into different vignettes and planting in unusual containers to create interest during each garden “moment.” Please enjoy.
Blue Lake pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris ‘Blue Lake’, annual) grow on a trellis with rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum, Zones 3–8) in a wine barrel—proof a planting can be beautiful and produce food.
‘Rosita’ agastache (Agastache cana ‘Rosita’, Zones 5–10), with a garden shed in background, is a deer- and rabbit-resistant plant that blooms for a long period in the summer. The blooms are attractive to hummingbirds.

Succulents are a good choice for shallow, nontraditional containers like this, because the soil will dry out easily and the succulents won’t mind that at all.
Solar-powered lanterns are an easy way to bring light into the garden. Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Zones 3–9) on the fence wraps this corner in greenery.
